Mercer County half marathon. It’s nice to know that I can eke out a half marathon with little training over a hot and humid summer. At around 2:11 it is my slowest road half marathon ever and almost 40 minutes slower than my course PR from just a few years ago. Still, I’m happy with that time for an event I had no business running and other than overheated I feel great. Looking forward to winter running, gotta get through another week in the mid 90’s first. Thank you to @beastcoastpro for putting on another fab event. See you in Hainesport. . . #instarunners #ultrarunning #marathontraining #trailrunning #runner #running #runningman #beatyesterday #garmin #strava #hokaoneone #altrarunning
Finished another race at the Fair. This was my 9th year and I finished with 204 miles. Far from a PR but better than I expected. I slept 6ish hours every night, sat around and spectated while avoiding the heat and sun every day and generally socialized instead of running. If there was an award for the slacker with the most miles I would be in the running for it. Through the years I’ve covered well over 1,500 miles and was rewarded with a brick celebrating that achievement.
I spent the first half of the year recovering from being sick over the winter but I still managed 1,515 total miles. I only ran in four races, 305.3 total race miles. A lot lower than in past years and didn’t get in any miles the last three weeks of the year due to an injury but I’m feeling better and the pace has improved. Most importantly I’ve volunteered and crewed at a few events this year and in turn helped dozens and dozens of folks reach their personal records and more. I’ve also attended more events and not only cheered on my friends but also motivated others. Personally, the Uptown Gentlefriends events that I’ve created were even more successful this year, record numbers at the Track Attack and Delaware River Loop Series as well fantastic new course Dash & Deciduous 5k that I designed. 2023 is going to be great and I’m looking forward to seeing even more runners go above and beyond!

Uptown Gentlefriends is holding an event, Uptown Gentlefriends 12 Hour Track Attack, on April 23, 2022 at 06:00AM at Steinert High School, Hamilton NJ
More info: In 2016 the Uptown Gentlefriends invited their friends and families to join them for a FREE 12 hour social run at the local high school track. At the end of the day over 40 people showed up and every one of them logged AT LEAST 1 lap. As a group they logged 984 laps – that’s 246 miles!
Every year more and more folks show up throughout the day to run or walk a lap. Even though 2020 had lower attendance due to Covid our top runner logged 55 miles in 12 hours but then we went right back to it in 2021 where we had over 80 runners and our top runner ran over 50 miles!
Join us in 2022 for the 7th Annual Uptown Gentlefriends 12 Hour Track Attack! We will have several coolers with cold drinks and delicious snacks. We will also have some chairs and a canopy to relax under. Bring your families; several kids run every year; all ages are welcome!
Come out, get some fresh air and get some steps in. Walk a lap or run many. Or bring a book and just hang out with us all day. Many of us are using this as training for upcoming endurance runs, so your presence alone will motivate us – we need the help!
Runners will be responsible for counting their own laps, we use an honor system. There will be a chalkboard at the aid station where participants can keep track and update their lap count.
If for any reason we have to leave the track we will temporarily run a half mile blacktop loop directly across the street in the park until we are able to return back to the track.
We’re hoping that there will be port-o-pottys available at the track, they usually are. Otherwise there are permanent restrooms at the park located across the street (about a quarter mile away, that distance counts!).
Rain date will be the next day; April 24th.

We stick together, regrouping at intersections, stopping for pictures here and there. And most importantly we will have fun!
I’ll have some snacks and water for post run. New Years Day only; so rain or shine (or snow).
PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME. The State Park sometimes hosts a “First Day Hike” which starts at 11. Let’s try to finish up before they start.
COURSE DESCIPTION:
Just under 5 miles. Scenic. Some clusters of roots. Some rolling hills but less than 200ft total gain throughout the entire course.
There are more trails within the area but I think this course covers all the best spots. The course winds through the State Park and the Nature Center grounds.
